Friday Night Sew In

I have never joined a evening sew in and now I have.

Sugarlane Designs has one, so I found out yesterday.

Thought I would see how I went with my block from Summertime Splendor. Lots of maneuvering as I did find this block a bit hard to hold.

Got some of the wool shapes sewn in position.

Not a lot sewn last night and today my hands are feeling it. So this one is also a no-no for sewing, as I need to keep resting my hands. Even using the laptop keys is a chore.

Going to try a little stitchery I need to finish, see if that is easier. Still got 4 weeks in the cast and then a splint. This is gonna be so painful........😆

Taking A Break

I'm taking a break from sewing on my machine and am limited to my time hand sewing. Reason is I thought I could fly, seriously I did.

Two weeks ago I tripped on a paver in a friend's front yard.   When I landed, I was full body length with my hands stretched out in front of me. Without my super cape.

I broke two bones in my left arm, damaged my right hand ( more x-rays this week) and that is still not functioning properly. My left foot, needs a ultra-scan this coming week as I can't still walk properly. Plus other injuries up and down my body and face. LOTS of black bruises.

That is a happy me after 2 weeks, waiting for the swelling to go down after I got my second plaster. Fits better and more comfy.

So for the last two weeks I have watched so much TV and gotten out of cooking and housework.

I have been trying to find out what I can manage sewing wise, even for 5 to 10 mins at a time.

Was not able to hold my wool work with my left hand, so Pat pinned it to an old cross stitch hoop.I was only able to sew if I poked the needle through to the back and put my hand then under the work. But I could sew.

With the new cast, I can now sew little items. Yesterday was my first time sewing in five days with my new cast. This little penny was final completed.

So that is why I have been quiet here. No sewing on my machine and all my markets have been cancelled for the rest of this year.

Cheers
Lucky.

Starting To Feel A Lot Like Christmas

At my place it's the 2nd September, just under 4 months to Christmas. Yes I can hear you groaning, but for hand made gifts, one needs to have time to make gifts for family.

Until they are all made and ticked off my list, no more sewing of my items. Just Christmas gifts and items for markets, I frequent.

Today it's getting the first gift underway. A mixture of linen and wool felt combined together.

Out with the new and in with the old.

I decided to go back to using my old system, where I work on one project at night for a week and then move onto another project in my list of UFOs.

Using a wix Blog for two posts, I was then told visitors couldn't leave a comment.
So out with the new and in with the old blogger style. But starting  a fresh new blog look, with a new name to go with it.

Last week I worked on my needle turned Pemberley.

This photo was taken back in Feb of this year. To get to that stage had taken me 12 months, due to life and other sewing and quilting projects.

After a few get together days, and the last week ignoring the UFOs, I am now at this stage.

Top bow is only pinned and next time I visit Pemberley I will fix and sew down the bow.
Now onto my coming week's UFO.

This week it is my Lucy Boston EPP quilt.

Had a look at it last night I found I need to make some more connectors to get a group of blocks joined to the section in the above photo.

By doing this system and recording each week, I will be able to keep track. This is the whole idea of going back to blogging.

Anyhow I am hoping by going back to the old blog style, you can leave a nice comment or ask a question. As the weeks go by I hope to add to the side bar some helpful links and such.

My thought for this new journey and my new blog
